I’m not really a film critic, I just play one on the Internet!

Trailer: The Lovely Bones

I spent the better part of yesterday evening browsing movie trailers on Apple, and I’m quite excited about the fresh line-up of new films.
The first one is The Lovely Bones, based on the best-selling novel by Alice Sebold. Normally, I wouldn’t be too keen to see what unfolds onscreen because the book didn’t move me the way it did everyone else. But two simple words could take me to the ends of Middle Earth… yes, I’m talking Peter Jackson, the man with the magic director’s hand. Is there any doubt this movie will be somewhat extraordinary?
I’ll confess that I’m [...]

The Hangover: Over-Hyped

When I first saw the trailer I thought “oh, another crappy, witless guy comedy.” Then a few months later, headlines started declaring Hangover “The surprise hit of the summer!” and everyone was praising its hilarity and overall awesomeness. Fans and critics alike kept raving and it seemed virtually everyone was urging me to go watch it.
And so I did.
And what the hell? Seriously, what exactly was the big deal? Where was all the rip-roaring fun people kept promising? What were the stand-out jokes? Where were the scene-stealing moments? Was it the tiger? Mike Tyson? The cute baby with the over-sized [...]

Best Movie Trailers. Ever.

When I’m not watching movies, I can be found watching trailers – both old and new, because sometimes these trailers are so well-done they can stand alone as entire works of art. Below are two of my favorites, featured here for their flawless blend of music and motion.
1. Watchmen
Although the movie itself was a bit of a letdown the trailer promised something extraordinary. The Smashing Pumpkin’s song, coupled with some pivotal movie moments really made it happen.

2. Where the Wild Things Are
I have supremely high hopes for this movie based on the theatrical trailer. Seriously, it was so moving [...]

My Current Obsession: Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves Pictures, Images and Photos

While the rest of the world is in love with Edward Cullen, I’m currently experiencing a Keanu Reeves revival. Where was I a decade ago when his Hollywood star was glowing with buzz? I was an ignorant teeny-bopper enamored exclusively with boy-bands, overlooking true man gems, like Keanu.

There’s really no middle ground for me. When I like something, I usually develop an obsession. This is where I’m at with KC Reeves. I don’t know why I never felt this way about him before. I developed a strong interest in him after seeing The Lakehouse, but it wasn’t an overblown [...]

Public Enemies – Review

Jul 25, 2009 Author: Sinoun | Filed under: Reviews

Mix feelings resulted after my initial viewing of Public Enemies a few weeks ago. On the one hand, Johnny Depp gave a stand-out performance, and on the other hand the movie’s central feature of heavy artillery tired me endlessly. Gun-lovers with a reverence for violence will pee their pants with excitement, but the sissy pacifist within me was just a tad overwhelmed by the excessive bullets.
Of course, what was I expecting right? The film’s called “Public Enemies” and it’s a story about John Dillinger, infamous bank robber/tabloid fodder running from an FBI squad determined to take him down. Merciless [...]
